If you start from HSR Tainan Station, what you need to do is follow direction signals and walk to Shalun Train Station. Then take a train to Tainan Train Station, and vice versa. (HSR Tainan Station and Shalun Train Station are within the same building, like HSR Taipei Station and Taipei Train Station.) You can refer to the pictures of this blog.
This method is more economical than taking a taxi(about NT400) if you don't bring too much luggage with you.
